Summary

Learn how to fine-tune your engagement strategy with Accoil Analytics by creating custom segments. This process, driven by user events, traits, and scores, sharpens your analysis and decision-making.

How this helps

Custom segments take you past default options, offering deep insights into user behaviors and traits. This tailored understanding enhances engagement strategies and personalizes user experiences

Getting Started with Custom Segments

Accoil Analytics offers default segments, yet the power lies in creating tailored segments that reflect the unique aspects of your users. These custom segments can be based on a variety of criteria including user actions (events), characteristics (traits), and their engagement scores. Here’s how to get started:

Step 1: Navigate to Custom Segments

  1. Go to the Analytics section in Accoil.

  2. Under the "Segments" area, find the "Custom Segments" option.

  3. Click the "+" button to initiate a new custom segment.

Step 2: Define Your Segment Criteria

You'll be presented with a rule-setting interface where you can define the criteria for your segment. Criteria can be based on:

  • Events: Specify if users performed (or did not perform) certain actions, how frequently, and within which timeframe (up to 90 days).

  • User Traits: Filter users by specific characteristics, such as the presence or absence of a trait, or by their signup date.

  • Scores: Include users based on their Accoil engagement scores, looking at absolute values or changes over time.

  • Activity: Define segments by user or account activity, such as the last time a user engaged with a scored event.

Example: Engaged New Users

To create a segment for new users who have been highly engaged in the past 30 days, you might set up rules like:

  • Signed Up: Within the last 30 days.

  • Events: Performed the 'Completed Onboarding' event.

  • Scores: Engagement score above 75.

  • Last Active: User was active in the last 7 days.

Step 3: Save and Analyze Your Segment

After setting your rules:

  1. Name your segment for easy identification (e.g., "Engaged New Users").

  2. Save your segment. It will now appear on your Segment Dashboard.

  3. Utilize the dashboard to compare the average scores and behaviors of users within this segment against others, gaining insights into their engagement patterns.

Best Practices

  • Iterative Refinement: Start with broader segments and refine them as you gather more insights.

  • Consistent Review: Regularly review and adjust your segments to reflect changes in user behavior and business objectives.

  • Actionable Insights: Use segment insights to inform product development, marketing strategies, and customer support initiatives.

By following these steps and incorporating these best practices, you'll be well-equipped to leverage custom segments in Accoil Analytics for more effective user engagement and strategic planning.
